Description
The Pagodastructure derives from that of the stupa, a hemispherical, domed, commemorative monument first constructed in ancient India. Initially, these structures symbolized sacred mountains, and they were used to house relics or remains of saints and kings.
Chinese Pagodas are a traditional part of Chinese architecture. During the Tang, the importance of the main hall was elevated and the
pagoda
was moved beside the hall, or out of the temple compound altogether.
The eagle in the wall hanging symbolizes strength. Eagle tail feathers are considered a potent charm.
Pagoda and Eagle Wall Hanging, 30" x 13", embroidered, velveteen.
