Description
Descriptiion:Here's a super clean tube 111 tester by Precise Development Corp, Oceanside New York. No signs of oxidation or corrosion outside or inside. I use tube testers occasionly but am not an expert. After some online research and spending some time with this tester here's what I was found.....
Electronics forums discussions say the 111 is very well designed , similar to the Hickok mutual conductance testers. It can test transistors and measure tube filament current, grid bias, gas shorts, life tests and more.
This tester has the common problem of the data roll being stuck and not working. In the photo you can see very old repairs which didn't hold. Tube data information and more are available online. At the BAMA website there's PDF files for Tube data, Assembly and Diagrams.
To check this tube tester a known working tube was used, as shown in the photos.
Testing steps ...
- With tester turned off....
- Set bias, filament and settings A through O
- Turn tester on and line adjust to center
- Insert tube
- Reset line adjustment if necessary (voltage drops a bit when tube inserted)
- Set meter to test
- Turn test selector to test
Basic test showed the tube to be good as shown in the photos. Even though tests were good ..... any tester this old should probably be recalibrated if you want close to 100% accuracy.
As mentioned earlier, there's assembly information, diagrams, tube data and more at BAMA website and elsewhere on the internet. The included manual also has helpful information.
